This is the best purchase I've made in board books for my son - and I buy a lot of books for him. It's by and large the family favorite.The simple yet lively text draws in the readers and the sound effects like ZOOOOM and SPLOOOSH and VROOOOM have my toddler giggling every time. The storyline is great and the illustrations are just perfect! He loves pointing our every truck and bus in the book!And to be honest, I LOVE reading the book. It's just plain fun - and I don't find many, if any, books too be this fun to read. I can't wait until the next books come out.The board book is a good size and is very sturdy. Perfect for my little toddler to flip through the pages on his own.
I bought this for my 2 year old son right as he turned two and he was not interested in it. At the time he was into looking at the pictures in "big kid books" like his sister, and I think he was offended that I got him a board book (too babyish). But after sitting around for about 6 months, now 2 and a half, he "discovered" it and we read it two or three times in a row. The simple words and pictures make it easy for him to try and memorize, which seems to be his goal so he can "read" it to me. The rhyme is easy and fun, the story is simple but that's good for him. I don't even hate reading it so many times a night, since I feel the pictures are so cute and cheery.
This is one of my sons favorite books, we have so much fun reading it. We are always so excited when red truck saves the day! I have a group of friends who all had sons within 3 months of each other (3 of the boys where born only hours apart) buying that many gifts at a time can be hard on the check book, so we picked our favorite book and sent out 4. All of the moms gave this book a thumbs way up! One mom told me she read it 4 times after it had been delivered, another told me it was her sons new favorite book and that she was reading it morning, noon, and night. One of the boys had taken to sticking it in the back of his pants and taking it everywhere he went. This book is definitely a winner, even my daughter loves it and enjoys joining in for the sound effects "Zoooooooom!".
My kid isn't too picky with books. She gets excited over any sort of reading material. This book doesn't seem to come quite off the shelf as often for some reason but I can see where some kids might get a big kick out of it. It has a lot of excitement and with some enthusiastic outloud reading, you can really rev up younger kids with this story about a rugged, strong red truck that comes out to save the day. Very simple wording, cute artwork. Great for younger children
Red truck is a tow truck.A work truck, not a show truck.This book is charming. The art is very well done and enjoyable to look at. Big, vibrant vehicle colors against starker backgrounds make things pop and feel good on the ol' eyeballs. Some of the wording could use a tad more polish, though. However, the sound words are fun for the little ones to join in and read aloud. My 18 month old son loves when we get to the "Zoooooom!" page and always dramatically exclaims, "Zyoooom!"
Who knew how popular this book would be with our grandson, who is 2-1/2. He asks me to read it at least twice each time he visits. He loves spotting trucks and school buses when we are out driving. Well, this book is about a truck pulling a school bus up a steep hill on a slushy day. His two favorite vehicles in one book! Oh, my! I couldn't have found anything better! The book has few but very fun-sounding words. I don't mind reading it aloud to him multiple times.
My son, who is about to turn 2, does not like books. He gets easily bored and doesn't like to sit still for more than 3 seconds. However, he loves this book, and will sit all the way through it! If you have a reluctant reader who loves vehicles, it's worth a shot. The red truck rescues a bus, which is perfect my bus-obsessed son. Really cute and easy to understand for the littles.
Really cute story with rhythm and we add a lot of spunk to the reading as well. Board Book for younger children, but all 3 of my grands ranging from 5 to almost 2 still loving it to be read to them!!
