My 4 year old son and 2 year old daughter are both obsessed with this book. (They also love the Disney Christmas collection.) We have made many of the recipes. I only wish there were more Disney cookbooks out because my kids can't seem to get enough!

Lots of other reviewers have described the recipes, and the ones we've tried so far are great. (The pancakes are the best you'll ever make!) I posted some example pics of the pages.What I actually want to comment on, as an artist, mom and avid Disney fan, are the illustrations, which I LOVE. I looked at each page just so I could look at them. Whoever did these illustrations needs to be promoted to head of the Disney Princess product art department! They are very well done, and very true to each princess' movie look. I couldn't stand Disney's extreme "makeovers" on all the princesses, where they glammed them up by not only giving them more makeup and fancier hair and clothes, but also changed their bodies and faces, making them taller, skinnier, paler, older and vapid. But in this book, the princesses look just like they did in the movies, very cute, more "real" (as real as a cartoon can get) and down-to-earth, with some personality. Love it!Also, the men are shown cooking too, which is great!

Book came nicely packaged. We already made few recipes and they were all delicious.

I gave this to my granddaughter on her 8th birthday. Since she lives of state, I could not make the party. I gave her a diamond and birthday stone 24 kt. gold necklace. She is very privileged and received very nice gifts but this was her favorite. I felt I had wasted money on the necklace when I could have just given her this. She loves to cook and she told me that she has made two things already in less than 3 days of receiving it. She said it was "the best gift ever". Even my husband was impressed with it.

I was impressed by the quality of this book. It is sturdy with a thick glossy cover. The pages are made from heavy paper. The recipes are appealing and broken down into small steps for the beginning cook. Each recipe is a double page spread. One side is the picture of the dish and the other has the recipe and an animated character from one of the Disney movies. Very visually appealing. Most of the ingredients are staples in the average kitchen. There are a few recipes whose pictures are quite unrealistic in their presentation, such as the snack Magic Carpet Roll-Ups; cream cheese on a tortilla with sliced red peppers and carrot. Easy enough to do and a pretty good snack, but the photo shows the carrot sticks cut impossibly thin, fine and uniform, not something most adults could replicate. Certainly nothing a child could hope to accurately replicate. That being said, many of the recipes are pretty simple and appetizing. All in all a very nice book I would purchase again.

My 5 year old loves to cook in the kitchen with me. Excellent book with great photos. Easy & fun recipes that use normal ingredients. Nothing too fancy but good inspirations.

This is probably the best cookbook I have ever purchased. I bought one for a gift and loved it so much I bought one for myself. When it arrived a friend who was heading off to college thought it was such a great starter cookbook she took that one and I had to buy another one for me. The recipes are not boring, standard foods. And lots of healthy options. The instructions are really easy to follow and perfect for anyone at any age to follow. Its not to childish for grown ups but not too advanced for kids. Gives great cooking basic tips at the beginning. This is great and I would gift this to anyone!

Wow. I thought "how good can this cookbook be?!" after reading all these reviews. But they're right. This is a remarkably well done cookbook. With four little girls, we've started quite the collection of children's cookbooks, and this is far and away the winner. Beautiful illustrations, clear instructions, charming concepts behind the recipes - but most importantly, the recipes are GOOD! Innovative, tasty, simple.... I'm blown away. We've already made three things out of this in a week, with plans for two more this weekend. Don't let the "Disney" part throw you - this isn't just a cutesy cookbook.

This cookbook is a surprisingly good cookbook. Most of the time I get frustrated with cookbooks for kids because they will have clever names for something that is literally toast with butter, or a peanut butter and jelly. Some kids actually want to do REAL cooking (with parental supervision and help, of course!), and this book will let you do that. At first I thought it was going to be one of the annoying books. I opened to a random page that showed bread with jam on it. To my surprise, it was actually a recipe to make the jam from scratch! Another page showed bread and butter, but it actually showed how to make the bread (I believe it was baguette). The recipes are all actually recipes, not just snack ideas that are cleverly named. Well worth the price.

I was absolutely absorbed by this book. I looked forward to every time I picked it up to read. I must start by saying that I am Jewish and absolutely do NOT share the religious views of Corrie Ten Boom. But, this story is so engrossing and moving that my religious views were irrelevant. This is the remarkable story of a remarkable family that literally laid their lives out to save Jews in Holland during WWII. These are people I wish I could hug. Don't be put off by the religious views expressed. Those views caused heroic people to show mercy and empathy in the most brutal period in recent history. The views were not preachy. I only wish that I could do something good for any person that would give respect for the wonderful people in this story.

Nothing in the description informs the reader that this is an abridged version. Many key parts have been cut and section edited and changed so that they read dramatically differently. I ended having to re-buy the other version (the 35th anniversary one) so I could have the entire book.

I have read this book probably 6 times over the course of my life. You think I’d be tired of it by now. Not only do I love reading it and getting something new from it each time, I make sure I have a copy on hand to give out to others. Yes, it is that good. It is a true story of a tragic time in the history of mankind. It details the love, warmth and courage of a family of three; an elderly father and his two spinster daughters who risk everything to save their Jewish neighbors and strangers alike from the Nazi death camps. Read this book! You will not regret it!

Whether you are Jew, Christian, Catholic or pagan, this book of history is enlightening for your journey. There are spiritual mentions that shouldn't keep you from reading this book. Just as you would sit respectfully in front of an aunt at a Holiday feast listening politely to a tale, so shall you listen to this one in all its entirety. Every story should be heard. Tin Boom's story holds your attention from concert to cover, bringing you along as if you feel sorrow and joy along side. Encourage others to read it like I was encouraged to read it. Pass history on so that love is spread no matter what religion you are.

It's taken me 6 decades to finally get around to reading Corrie ten Boom's remarkable story. I'm in awe at Corrie's honesty in her weakness, but more in the faith in both Corrie and her sister,Betsy, that sustained them through atrocities I can only imagine....A faith that even enabled them to find joy in fleas! Reading this story has certainly put my own difficulties into perspective and has inspired me to look so much more closely at my own faith. I am truly grateful that I have been so blessed, but I know now that I have to trust God more in every aspect of my life. Thank you, Corrie ten Boom, for sharing your story and for sharing the love of God with a very dark world.

Riveting true story of occupied Holland during WWII. Could not put down, though I knew the unspeakable would occur. A good reminder for today of how fascism starts: First the "state" controls the media and commerce, then bullying comes, with rationing, brutality, curfews, disappearances, genocide. But the hatred, oppression and unspeakable crimes against humanity did not stop the love and good works of this extremely talented, intelligent and faithful family. Their love, their story, and the Resistance, has survived. With many family photos that remind one of one's own relatives only a generation or so ago, and make the story unquestionably come to life. An excellent, excellent read for lovers or history, mystery, or human drama.

For several years, my wife kept trying to convince me to read The Hiding Place. But I thought it sounded like a little child's book. So I kept putting it off. Boy, was I wrong! What an awesome story. I'd give it more than two thumbs up, but I only have 2 thumbs! Well worth taking the time to read, ponder, and absorb how an unseen power guides our lives far more than we realize. It is, however, in the end, about redemption, being true to one's self, and second chances.Chabon writes with his usual inimitable style, creating a unique vision of mid-century New York City, populated with fantastic characters almost as big as the larger-than-life four-color heroes and heroines they create. This book helped me through a very tough time in my life.It was so beautiful and adventurous and human and sad and happy and wondrous that, over the course of a month, it lifted me out of the darkness. I rationed it to one chapter a day, which I read on the subway on my way to the office. I looked so forward to it. It's one of those books I found myself thinking about when I wasn't reading it, counting the hours until my special half hour on the subway.I feel like the subject matter mentioned out of context might turn some people off (mostly women): it centralizes around the two jewish boys who created the comic book "The Escapist" (a metaphor for the "Superman" comic) in bustling New York City during and after World War II, a time when America needed a hero. I promise you, though, the characters, the tone, the locations and the deeply human undertones transcend the book's logline. It's really about love, religion, overcoming deep adversity (including nazis, heartbreak and profound loss), loyalty, friendship, death-defying escape acts and edge-of-your-seat excitement and adventure. The word "wondrous" really does capture the feeling the book left me with - a sense of childlike wonder and heart rending emotion simultaneously. It captures the excitement of the time so well that it made me feel I was part of something larger, just by reading it.I hope you'll treat yourself to this (pulitzer winning) epic of human proportions. Regardless of your sex, religion, race or creed, this book has something amazing to give you. It has stuck with me for over ten years and I can't wait to read it again.

To be honest, I struggled through some of the beginning, but am so glad I stuck with it. There is so much in this book about human nature, cruelty, friendship, love, & forgiveness. I read and savored it over time, as I did The Goldfinch or All the Light We Cannot See. As a comic lover whose mother bought her a comic book every trip to the grocery store (& I still have them), I loved how comics and their creation were woven into the fabric of this story. I will be re-reading mine again, looking at their construction with fresh eyes.

This story begins in 1939 in New York City. Sammy Klayman lives as an only child to a single mother, and one day his cousin from Europe - Joe Kavalier shows up at their doorstop after escaping his war torn country. He is alone and scared, and Sammy does not like that this kid is not a member of his household. Quickly, though, Sammy discovers that Joe can draw. Sammy starts to share his love of comic books, and soon he and Joe are working together making their own comic book series. They come up with their hero - the Escapist - based on Joe's past of being able to escape like Houdini. Their comics soon become extremely popular. They have their own series, their own toys, their own radio show. Joe stashes all of the money he makes away so that one day he can bring his entire family to America.Tragedy strikes, and Joe runs away. For 11 years, Sammy and Joe's girl - Rosa - search for him to no avail. It isn't until Rosa's son, Thomas, starts to disappear into New York City, skipping school, to visit a mysterious man at a local magic shop. Soon Joe is back in their lives and everything changes for he and Sammy.This book was.....okay. First of all - it was way too long. Very wordy. I found myself skimming sometimes just because there wasn't a lot of dialogue and too much explanation. It is a writing style - I get it - it just isn't for me. Second of all - I did not like Joe. His character was frustrating and extreme. There was a fairly good size chunk of this book during the part that Joe is absent that I felt could have been eliminated all together. Or at least shortened. It completely derailed the story, and didn't fit. The beginning, though, and the ending, when Sammy and Joe were together - was entertaining. Sammy is a witty character and had some great lines. He kept the story afloat and moving forward, unlike Joe's character.This book is definitely for folks who love comic books. They talk quite a bit about the comic book greats throughout this book and mix true history into the story of these fictional writers. My husband - who is a total nerd for these types of stories - is going to read it next so I will be anxious to hear his take on it.

It's a good book for those who are interested in Hou DeJian, the songwriter of "Heirs of the Dragon" or "Descendants of the Dragon" and what happened at Tiananmen Square in 1989. However, it's written through the lens of the author who is juxtaposed in the narration with tangents that are unnecessary and tedious. It is mostly a quick read and highlights the singer/songwriter's exploits and the political hot water he gets himself in on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.

Shelley Shepard Gray is one of my favorite Christian Authors. Her series The Amish of Hart County has been a such a delight to read. It has a wonderful contemporary feel while keeping us in the Amish community. Her latest book in the series - His Risk - is another wonderful addition. This time we see a focus on Calvin Fisher who we met in his brother's story - His Guilt. I love when we get a sibling story because we get to see where previously beloved characters' lives have gone. This book was a wonderful addition and had that edge of suspense that we've come to love from Gray.*I received a copy of the book for review purposes, all opinions are my own.

Once again, Shelley Shepard Gray takes you on a whirl-wind of emotions in this novel! It is by far my favorite book in the series, and it keeps you on your toes. You will not be disappointed with this book, the series, or any of Shelley's books she's written. She has a true God-Given talent and it is amazing to read what she comes up with. Happy reading!!

This Amish story by Ms.Gray was quite a suspenseful tale. I really enjoyed it. It was quite different than any Amish book I have read before. I liked all the characters and of course the romance between Calvin and Alice. I also liked the secondary romance with Irene and West as well. In fact, I hope there will be a romance book just for Irene. maybe the next one will? I enjoyed it and recommend to all Amish lovers.

Being a huge fan of Shelley Shepard Gray I must admit this story is not a disappointment. Calvin and Alice bring a story of Faith, Hope, and Trust. I was completely captivated by the story and the message and you will be too. Do not let this series pass you by. Thank you Shelley Shepard Gray.

A really fun look at some really loser super heroes. I'm sure there are many, many more out there to be added. Hopefully there will be a sequel.

A beautifully produced book filled with vintage material about superheroes who were destined to fail. After reading it I checked out the author's blog, and I must admit - Jon Morris is a pretty funny guy. However, this book is only 90% humor. There's a lot of relevance here as well, and every article on each of the poor unfortunate characters Jon showcases has been meticulously researched. Hence, the end result is a product filled with useful facts that can be read either encyclopedia style by selecting individual entries, or by adopting a more story-centric approach by starting from the Golden Age and working upwards through The Silver Age and into the Modern. Each hero's biography paints a complete picture of his/her history and a short analysis of why he/she may be deemed regrettable. The main character art of each entry is stunning, but the real highlight for me was the short one-page strips accompanying each superheroes' well-written history. The overall look and feel of the book exudes charm and is a true pleasure to read. Most of the weirdest and zaniest creations spotlighted came from The Golden Age, but there are a fair number of entries from other eras too. My favorite Golden Age mishaps featured within are, among others, Stardust the Super Wizard, Speed Centaur, Kangaroo Man, The Puppeteer, Fantomah, Bozo the Robot and Doctor Hormone. Oh, and how could I forget Invisible Scarlet O'Neil, the very first invisible superheroine? The Silver Age is also ripe for the picking, with entries like B'Wana Beast (Love him!) and the classic Legion of Super-Pets. For the Modern Age I need only utter a single name: Thunderbunny! But the list goes on and on, and each page is as entertaining as the next. A worthy read, and a bang-for-your-buck purchase indeed.

Completely unique and entertaining. Firstly the book is beautifully produced with cleanly printed and fully rendered pages and reproductions of the original comics. Along with Jon Morris' well researched and at times laugh out loud funny analysis, makes this a great addition for collectors or casual comics fans. Much of the book is dedicated to the emerging golden age of comics, where we are introduced to the likes of "Bozo the Ironman" and "Captain Tootsie." The profiles range from the utterly ridiculous; "Dr. Hormone" to the poorly conceived rip offs, "Nature Boy" to the what might have been had the sold more copies; "Captain Science." Morris notes that the downfall of many of these was economic and not always the pure silliness of the product. Honestly, some beloved legendary characters such as Dr. Strange, Silver Surfer, and Plastic Man easily could have wound up in this book had the been scraped by their publishers. Great Book overall!!

I found this book after recently purchasing this author's book about regrettable super villains. I was so taken with that book, I bought this one and then immediately picked up more of them to give as gifts. It is perfect for anyone who likes comics or wants a walk down comic book memory lane along with some laughs and chuckles. I especially like having the two books as it provides a more complete look at the failed comics since 1938.The book is broken into three parts: The Golden Age, The Silver Age and The Modern Age. The Golden Age spans the years 1938 through 1949. The Silver Age covers 1950 through 1969. Finally, The Modern Age is from 1970 through the present (i.e., when the book was published 2017.)As with the villains book, most of the regrettable superheroes are from the Golden Age. One that especially caught my eye was Captain Tootsie – he looked so familiar! When reading the blurb, I discovered why. Apparently, he was based on Captain Marvel. A big difference was that Captain Tootsie was powered by a steady stream of Tootsie roll candies (aha! That explains the name.) Kind of like Popeye but with with sugary teeth pulling candy instead of spinach. What kid would object to that?I have a few comics that I have kept through my life and I have many from the collections my children amassed during their childhood. While the comics featured in this book are not part of my collection, I am really enjoying reading about the humorous history behind the genre.

THE LEAGUE OF REGRETTABLE SUPERHEROES is an amusing little book, and that's probably the best thing I can say about it. Author Jon Morris is not devoid of wit, and some of his observations are laugh-out-loud funny. I read the book straight through really quickly for that reason. However, it's a really lightweight tome that's not really for knowledgeable comics fans. I've read a lot of comics offline and on, I've read many books about comics, and I've frequented blogs that focus on obscure and forgotten comic stories, so I was familiar with a lot of the characters Morris included. As with other books that cover similar material, I rather expected there to be some example stories included with the entries instead of just panels and single pages. So this book is more like a selective encyclopedia, though funnier. Also, I discovered at the end that Morris gathered most of his material online, which made me respect him and his book a bit less. I don't think one should do all one's research on the internet, but perhaps that's unique to me. At any rate, I can recommend this book to very casual comics fans and people interested in a few chuckles with their pop culture trivia.

Nice. Going to be a good read of course I wanted to skip right to the parts covering the lists of Angels, Archangels, and names of God for use in prayer and ritual and its quite AMAZING how many there are that are unique to Persian lore. Ive always wanted to know if Persia had its own Angels and I feel Ive discovered the perfect book and author for that!

I’ve just started reading it and seems to be very interesting.

In all my time of reading books on Zoroastrianism I've never come across anything that goes into the actual specifics of it like this book does. My only complaint -- and it's a big one -- is that the chapter titles are grossly misaligned way too high on the page and should be lowered to where the tops of the top row of letters comes down to no higher than the very bottom of their row, where they were before. Because as it is, this gross layout mistake is doing a gross disservice to the look of the book and making both it and the publishing company look amateur and sub-professional.

Interesting book about Zoroastrianism. I would definitely buy it again.

This book is one more utterly trite exercise in New Age cut and paste.

there is a lot say a bought this book first it takes a lot off study then you have to learn to say the words right the mantras it takes lots off study and 12 months to do the program well i have it but to get t6he words right gathars as there called takes really traning and time and even if you get more dvds that teal you how to say them you still wont beaple to say then its really hard becouse you dont speak the lingwich so try if you will it start out sounding good not lets just see if you can do it with out a teacher i dont think so your going to say all those words good luck but in all honest it sounds good but then it gets all mix up i not saying its not a good book it is its just not easy
