Anything by Dr. Headaches is going to be excellent. I am behind on reading so my reviews are general.
At first glance you might think this was a political book expounding on the virtues of how right thinking, in the political realm of thought, is powerful. Let me put that thought to rest for you. It's not.What the author does provide in "You & Your Thoughts: The Power of Right Thinking" is much more powerful than any political thought ever...and there have been some powerful political ideas or thoughts.Enough about, or not about, politics.From the Foreward, "Many Christians are trudging through life without any compass, unaware of the transcendent yet everyday practicality of the timeless truths of God's Word. Rediscovering a life of confidence and hope is what this book is all about."In this updated version, the original was published in 1977, a few minor changes have been made to bring the text up to date, but all the original ideas of Dr. Radmacher have been retained. The purpose of this book is to "allow Christians to use their minds to lift up the name of Jesus, advance the Gospel, and boldly proclaim God's free grace." I believe this book will help all who read it make progress toward that goal.As Dr. Radmacher explains, using the computer related example of GIGO - Garbage In Garbage Out - our minds function very similarly. He begins by laying out the notion that Christians have lost their art of reasoning and that as Christians we must develop the right way of thinking if we want to be successful and do things God’s way.Dr. Radmacher develops the ideas of right thinking when it comes to issues concerning the church, issues concerning our worth as humans, and issues concerning getting things into proper focus.The book is full of good teaching and scriptural instruction. I did, however, find it a bit hard to get through. It wasn’t the material as I found most of the material to be thoughts that I agreed with. I guess it just didn’t grab my full attention so it was a bit of a struggle to finish. If it would have been a book that I had just picked up then I probably wouldn’t have finished it. I was asked for an honest review so I read it through so that I could give it an honest review.Overall, I would recommend this book. Given some of the things that Dr. Radmacher addresses within the book, it would seem that he has a bit of a Calvinistic slant, which I wouldn’t hold to. But I would recommend this book for anyone wanting more information on proper thinking for a follower of Jesus.
When you first see the title you may think, like me, that this is some sort of positive thinking self-help book with some "Christianese" thrown in for good measure. That is not at all what this is, though.Dr. Radmacher encourages his readers to have their minds transformed by God's word. Throughout the book he applies this main idea to various topics. He lays the groundwork in the beginning and then addresses how Christians should think about:GodThe MindThe ChurchProphecySelf-WorthThen he talks about the payoff of right thinking.If you have trouble with applying 2 Corinthians 10:5 "We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ," to your life then this book will get you going in the right direction.I think there were places where the exegesis of Scripture could have been better, but overall this is a good book on taking every thought captive.

We see in Scripture encouragement over and over again to be renewed in our minds, to set our minds on Heavenly things, to think with the mind of Christ - therefore, it is so important to have a proper mindset in regards to all things.Dr. Radmacher explores powerful ideas in this book, including:- What you think is what you are- The battle for your mind- Mindsets around "Church" and "Church practice"While I didn't find myself agreeing with all of the conclusions in the book, I can say that nevertheless, it is a good primer for an important topic that is not discussed enough, one that should be considered and "thought about."
