How could anyone improve on the Chronicles of Narnia? C.S. Lewis is first; Tolkein is second. No one else is even in the same game. This series is intended for children, but really, much of it is wasted on the young. Read the books to your kids--or any kid you can shanghai--they'll love them, but you'll love them more. I hope the movies will be worthy of the books.

The Complete Chronicles of Narnia (text only) by C. S. Lewis,P. Baynes I bought this copy because for one, I personally did not want a "movie tie-in" version, I wanted to have a hardcover edition that contained all of the books in one that I could keep for years and pass down to my children - in short, good quality, tasteful, with pictures.It was described as being "Used - Good", but it arrived in excellent condition (no noticeable tears on the book itself with only slight page wear). This version came with a book jacket which is identical to the hard cover itself, so I threw away the jacket which was well worn. Also, the book description says "text only", which is strange, because this copy has tons of the original illustrations in full-color (I'll try to post pictures soon).I feel like I hit the jackpot with this purchase and I highly encourage everyone to get this copy ASAP, because I've noticed the price of the "all-in-one" books skyrocketing lately (Barnes and Noble used to have a "leather"-bound copy for $20 three years ago which is $100 now). I sure hope these books don't go out of print, but if they do, you'll be glad you purchased this particular version, because it'll be passed down the family.

This is a beautiful paperback box set of the Narnia collection, that so many of us grew up with. The covers are nice, thick and protective of the pages inside, which are of good paper stock. I have no print fading or errors that I've noticed.The art on the outter box is beautiful on all sides, with a little read up at the top. For paperbacks, I believe this is the way to go! Highly recommended!

 This is a really lovely storybook collection based on all seven books in the Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. Those include: “The Magician's Nephew”, “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”, “The Horse and His Boy”, “Prince Caspian”, “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader”, “The Silver Chair”, and “The Last Battle”. As the coloring book is slightly longer than average size and there are seven books covered, each is only touched on lightly. The coloring book can be used as an fun addition while you are reading the stories but it does not replace them.The designs are based on the original artwork by Pauline Baynes from the books written and published in the 1950's. In some cases, the artwork has been turned into what I call “wallpaper” style designs with repeated patterns.The designs include considerably more black in shading than usual for coloring books. That is because the original artwork was just that – artwork and not coloring designs. I've found that utilizing the black as shading is what works best for me with this type of design. I've run across it before when original artwork has been presented in this format.On a personal note, the designs bring back memories from my own life. I was a big fan of these books as a child and I would read them over and over again. Once I had children, I would read books to them before bedtime each night and this was a favorite, especially of my late son. He also would read the books over and over again on his own.I am now looking forward to reading them to my grandchildren and I will now also have a book of designs that I have colored to go along with them. I will admit that coloring these designs is a bittersweet experience as I spend as much time thinking of my son as I do in coloring.This is what I found as I colored in this book and tested the paper with my coloring medium. I'll include a list of my coloring medium, which I use for tests and for coloring, in the comments section below.96 pages of Designs based on original artwork from “The Chronicles of Narnia”Printed on both sides of the pagePaper is heavyweight, white, slightly smooth and non-perforatedGlue BoundMany Designs merge into the binding areaSome designs spread across two pages with integral parts merging into the binding areaAlcohol-based markers bleed through this paperWater-based markers, gel pens, and India ink pens do not bleed through the page.Colored pencils worked well with the paper. I was able to get good color with multiple layers of the same shade. I was also able to layer multiple colors and blend well using a pencil style blending stick. Both oil and wax based pencils worked well.

Love these books, but the font size is much too small on the Narnia Box Set (with movie pictures on box, linked below). It is advertised as for Grade 3 and up, but likely only Jr. High and older would be comfortable with this small of a Font Size. We are surprised that Harper Collins would publish such a small text Font Size, knowing that many children would be their audience.***It would be very helpful if Amazon would include the Font Size in the product description for books and other literature.*** (Surprised that they don't already include this.)Chronicles of Narnia Box SetWe are sending this box set back regrettably, and instead ordering this 2000-published box set, which is a couple inches taller, hoping it has an adequate font size for young readers (link below). Gave it 5 stars, but I'd really rather give it a 4.9. Everything about this book is good, except that the final definition of nothing that Barrow uses seems to still be something. I fully admit that I may not understand the nothing he is talking about. Francis Shaeffer defines "nothing" as "nothing nothing". As in, "not something". Something without attributes. Barrow seems to define nothing as how Shaeffer defines "nothing something": a nothing that has attributes. But if a nothing has attributes is it not a something?Again, I may not be understanding it properly, but that is my only contention with the book. The rest of it is completely and utterly fascinating.

I was excited to read this book. I find the concepts of zero and the vacuum very interesting and those are the very concepts that are the focus of this book. Unfortunately, it did not quite live up to my expectations.The first chapters of the book are quite good. Barrow gives us a history lesson on the development of the mathematical concept of zero as well as the historical concept of "nothing" which science will turn into the concept of vacuum. We get to read about the use of zero as a place holder in more complex numbering systems as well as its coming into being as a number. We get to read about the some of the great scientists--Pascal, Newton, Michelson, Einstein--doing experiments and tossing around ideas like the aether. All of this is interesting and well told.However, about half-way through the wheels start to fall off. Barrow is not nearly as good at explaining the modern concepts of the vacuum as he is about telling of its historical development. Modern physics is again grappling with the question of whether or not a true vacuum can exist. It may be that fluctuations in the vacuum caused the Big Bang and are constantly creating multiple universes, for example. But though Barrow discusses these things, he does not do so in a very coherent manner. Alan Guth, for instance, did a much better job of discussing these same subjects in his book on the inflationary universe theory.Plus, Barrow is clearly out to toot his own horn a bit in the last couple chapters by mentioning his own contributions to the development of the subject. It just so happens that his contributions don't seem nearly as important as other authors who have written on similar subjects. For those readers interested in the history of zero and the vacuum, I would suggest reading this book through chapter five and then putting it aside.

I was surprised, in a book about Vacuum, not to encounter any mention of its canonical forms (Casimir, Rindler, Inflationary, Cosmic String, and "Groundhog Day"...but I may be leaving one out), as were detailed in J. Richard Gott's book, _Time Travel in Einstein's Universe_. One would think, with Nothing else to write about (pun intended), this book would go into greater depth on the subject of what is known about Vacuum and the distribution of energy density, for instance. The best I can say is that this book should be read as more of a history of the concept of nothingness, of which it presents a very good treatment.

I appreciate Sara Retter for writing this book. I was searching for a good Spanish speaking guide to prepare myself before starting my dream tour program. This book contains all mostly used phrases for all situations during travelling. Author has categorized phrases based on situations. Now,I am that this book will make an expert at Spanish and my tour program will be very interesting without much interference of travel guide for language problems.

My wife went to Colombia for a vacation with her sisters and she now wants me to go with her next summer to see more of the country and I thought it would be a great idea if I can learn some phrases in their language. This book provides the most essential phrases in Spanish and its translation in English and I feel that this will really help a lot.

Excellent little book of commonly needed phrases. My only complaint is the formatting and lack of page numbers on the table of contents.

So far it's pretty good. I haven't gotten all the way through the book yet.

Great series. I have had the pleasure of owning both the kindle books and listening to the audio books. The audio books are narrated better than anything else I have listened to. I wish Larry would focus on this series a little bit more and stop working on the other stuff.

This is a thoroughly enjoyable work. It was helpful to have read/listened to all the previous works in the Grimnoir universe, but it wasn't completely necessary. Tokyo Raider was some of my family member's first experience with the author, and they were able to follow well enough.Bronson Pinchot does an excellent job narrating and voicing all the players with their distinct personalities and accents.Well done.

Pinchot is extremely talented and Larry Correia is very good at writing for the ear.

Easy to listen to. Fun. A great intro to a possible new series.

There really is no way to review this book (audio or otherwise) without giving spoilers. It is a short story set about 20 years after the events of the Grimnoir Chronicales (Hard Magic, Spellbound, Warbound) and I strongly recommend that these books be read / listened to before enjoying this story. I can say having grown up on Japanese monster movies this story manages to be true to the world of the Grimnoir while capturing all the fun of Saturday afternoon monster movies.I will say that this story makes me fervently hope that the author will revisit not just the Grimnoir setting but give us more of young Joe Sullivan.

A giant monster heading to destroy Tokyo, and a giant robot in need of a gravity spiker. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, so Joe Sullivan (son of Jake ) is called to help the Imperium now lead by Toru Tokigawa.I was happy to get to revisit the universe of the Grimnoir Chronicles, I just finished chomping my way though the trilogy and was going through withdrawals. It was a bit odd to have Jake's son in the lead, but this was satisfactorily action packed.Even though I can't imagine where Correia could take us next, Tokyo Raider gives me hope for Grimnoir the next generation.

Thoroughly enjoyable short story set in the Grimnoir universe. Knowing what happened to some of my favorite characters from the trilogy alone makes this purchase worthwhile. Particularly tickled to learn that one of them became President of the United States, but stranger things have happened in American presidential elections. :)

This is a short story set in the world of the Grimnoir Chronicles, but 20 years later than those stories. I really enjoyed the narration by Bronson Pinchot, and the story by Correia was just long enough to tell the story and make me want more. You can read my full review over on MySF Reviews.

Author presumes you know how to do everything he suggests and continually adds "hire someone" or "get your 15 year old" to do it if you do not know how. I bought the book to learn how to do it. Not helpful. I could have hired someone before I bought the book.

This is a great ebook to get you started on Pinterest. The author presented many great ideas in an easy to understand way. The spelling and punctuation were also above the average for many ebook I have read. I was enjoying the ebook so much that I wish it was longer.

Another great book! I ran across this guys books before and he has a good nack for explaining how these social media sites can be used to your advantage. The thing that makes him effective I'd say is how he makes you feel like you're having a conversation with the guy rather than reading sheets boring data and writing as if you already know how some things work on a site. He really does a good job breaking down the processes and techniques you can use, based off his personal experience, to successfully use Pinterest to your advantage. I would highly recommend this to all of us DIY people out there and who like a quick read. Can't wait to get to the other books.

Volume 4 of the Punk Rock Marketing Collection brings us to the pinnacle of marketing that doesn't suck. Like his other books, the tone is a one-two punch of information that you wonder why you didn't think of it before. I have friends that use Pinterest and I had a vague idea of what it was, but this book brought to light how to maximize it's usage to learn, to teach, and to share. A great read chock full of information and I'd recommend this book even if you're familiar with marketing on Pinterest. You never know what knew trick you might learn!

I have a short attention span for stuff like this and appreciate when the writing is funny, helpful, and understandable. This was all three, and I now find myself on Pinterest everyday tapping in to more "customers". As an author of women's fiction, most Pinterest users are exactly my market (women 25-70 years) so the kick in the pants to use it for marketing was just what I needed. The explanations and tips helped me to understand how. Great reference book on how to get the absolute most out of Pinterest! Highly recommended to anyone with something to sell.

As a small business owner I have learned so much about marketing from the Punk Rock Marketing Series. I am a woman who loves Pinterest and spends time on it daily, so this book really clicked with me. I know from my own experience that Pinterest is a place that women go to solve problems and/or find new ideas so using Pinterest to market products just makes sense. The book is easy to read with a detailed, outlined plan of attack and a dash of humor to keep it light. I suggest reading the entire series and spending the time to develop each piece for increasing social media presence and getting maximum return.
