I purchased this guidebook for my family who are making a trip to Montreal in connection with auditions at the National Circus School there. I have been there before but needed detailed maps for them be able to find both the school and a hotel. The maps only cover the center parts of the city and not all of Montreal Island so they are useless to us. The school (along with Cirque de Soleil headquarters and TOHU) are not shown.While there may be some use to what is included, this is the same issue I found with the New York City version of these guides - the whole city is not included. So if you are traveling anywhere outside the prescribed `tourist areas' get another map!

I always take a Knopf Guide with me when I travel to a destination for the first time. It is invaluable and almost indestructible. The Montreal Guide gave me unique information in an easy-to-use format. Especially handy for those who don't plan down to the last detail. I love the sections of maps that fold out and give me info on only the items I am looking at.

Love it, love it, love it. Love all the Knopf MapGuides. This one was for a present. I have the Los Angeles one, the Paris one, I gave my New York away. I want them all. Any town you want to visit, they are the best guides on the market. I recommend them to all my friends in the USA, and France.

Useful if you like the feel of books but all places here could be found in the Internet and google maps offline access all the same.

I loved the compact size and easy to read maps in this guidebook. Of the three books I bought in preparation for my trip to Montreal, it was this one that I carried with me every day. I'm a big fan of maps, and the fold out maps in this guide made exploring each neighborhood easy and efficient.Best of all, though, was the well curated list of restaurants, shops, and other attractions. As I had more and more success with the guidebook's recommendations, it began to be my sole source of information. They did a great job of narrowing the myriad choices in a city like Montreal and describing them in a useful, concise way.

Smaller then expected

This "tiny folio" is very useful if you think of it as a thumbnail guide to the collection at the Pierpoint Morgan library. The range of subject matter is quite educational, and they do give a few details for each illustration (size, place of origin). If the reproductions had been better it would be a collectible book in and of itself, but the book was printed in 1998 and a lot of refinements in printing technology have come since then. Most illustrations are serviceable, but several are blurry and a couple are pixilated. (Yes, they are small, but a magnifying glass will only magnify the halftone dots; you won't see more detail.) But if you can find a used copy cheaply you shouldn't have any regrets.

I was so pleased when this arrived. I had no idea that so much could be packed into so little space. Excellent quality photos, great detail, and the information on the original size of each manuscript is priceless! I'm in a historical recreation society and I can tell you this will go with me to every scribal and illumination event I go to.

This book is smaller than I realized when I purchased it, so the pictures inside sometimes need a magnifier; however, there are a lot of great images!

The book is much to small. You only can view the reproductions with a magnifying glas. The selection of titles is well done.

This volume is way to small to enjoy these manuscripts.

Perfect for my Scribal kit to take to SCA events to give me inspiration when needed!

Torey does an amazing job of making one feel like they have a front row seat to her classroom. She was obviously a great teacher, and is able to reach kids, that are hard to get through. I used to work with emotionally disturbed and children with autism, so, I could relate to a lot of what she went through. Torey was definitely in the profession that she was made to be in. She has a natural talent with working with children. I'm sure that she's touched many lives.

This book is about real children that teacher Torey Hayden worked with in Special Ed. I can't say enough about how excellent I think the book is and her work which stays with me as a classic I refer to whenever I think about a difficult child and want to throw up my hands. It renews my faith in we humans to do what could seem impossible.

Torey Hayden must be the most caring person in any school! She works with children who seem hopeless to others and loves them with a passion many of us may never have experienced. I could hardly put this book down.

If this were only the story of one child, it would be magnificent. It is, in fact, FOURFOLD magnificent. Open up your mind and heart.

You can agonize with Tori as she loves,stresses, dissolves, yet courageously faces the challenges of severely disturbed children. She is determined to rescue all she can in spite of opposition from all sides. A marvelous revelation of the human spirit.

I liked this book so much I've now bought it twice! I ordered it after enjoying several of the author's other books, and was maybe half way into the story when I accidentally left it at my doctor's office. Someone must have walked off with it as it never turned up! So naturally I had to order another copy...
