I am really sorry that I purchased this particular cookbook. This cookbook does not give the basics of broiling a simple hamburger or steak or French fries. I am sort of a meat and potatoes guy in these recipes, for the most part, are not my style. For one thing, she adds a lot of not spices that I don’t care for. Again, what I would like to know is how to cook a basic chunk of meat. How do I cook basic shrimp? How do I cook fresh vs frozen shrimp? I can always add my own sauces. In almost every recipe, she goes too far and not far enough. There are no definitions for baking vs roasting vs taking vs crisping. The Ninja Foodi is supposed to thaw and cook various foods. But she doesn’t mention that. She just goes into her specific recipes that I could care less about. I just want to know the basics of cooking a steak or a hamburger or shrimp or salmon or a potato. I don’t need all this fancy crap. My foodi is due to arrive today. I am hoping that the book that comes with it has much more usable information then this particular cookbook. There are so many things that this author does not touch on for the basic user like myself. I went through 200 pages of the book and found only 9 recipes that I could use part of. I, myself, would not recommend this book to anybody that just wants the basics.
If you own a Ninja Foodi, it's really important to have a companion cookbook, because it's such a unique appliance. But I don't understand what is so hard about including some pictures of the food in a cookbook. I like to see visual representations of what I am cooking. This book has none, other than one recipe at the beginning of each chapter. With pictures, this would be a 5-star book.But it does appear to have lots of great recipes tailored specially for the Ninja Foodi, so I am happy with my purchase. Well organized, and a good variety of breakfast, meatless mains, poultry, meat, seafood, dessert recipes, and a "Staples" section on making stocks and sauces. Nice charts on cooking with the Foodi as well, be it pressure cook, air crisp, steam or dehydrate. Handy US to metric conversion charts as well.I bought this and the other Foodi title "Complete Cookbook for Beginners". Silly name, as the recipes are no more simple, but there is not a lot of duplication either, so I would get both. Great supplements to the small book that comes with the Foodi itself. If you are only going to purchase one of the titles? I'd go with this one over the Beginners book.
The Ninja Foodi is magic. It just is. It's especially good for those with limited mobility and stamina.This book was a good early offering, for how to use this gadget. Lots of different recipes, and they work.But I found that the author wasn't using the features fully. Take the Cassoulet recipe. (Beans, chicken, sausage, and bacon) There were so many extra steps that could have been consolidated - instead of separate steps of Saute frying first the bacon then sausage then the chicken, instead you should preheat the pan (saute feature), put the sausage and chicken in the pan, and put the halved bacon on the high rack (each slice over 2 metal spokes and hanging down). That way the bacon drips down on the chicken and sausage and you get a start on that excellent bacon grease sear. Things like that - there are faster easier ways of using this magical appliance.
We gave up frying anything about 20yrs. ago, but the Air Crisper function works so well, we're back eating many foods we gave up on. The first thing I made was Scotch Eggs...I am so pleased with the result I can't thank you enough for the recipe! Everything in the cookbook seems easy, results have been fantastic so far. We are totally pleaesd, if there were more stars available we'd award them all!
I’ve used it once to make mushroom risotto. This is a time consuming recipe at the best of times, but was much quicker to make and at the end of the recipe I had only one pot to wash. I used the “pressure cooker†as well as the sauté function for this recipe. The instructions were a bit complicated at first, but once I understood them, I was fine. I worried that the pressure “vent†was very wobbly, but obviously it should be like this, as everything went well and the recipe worked. I look forward to trying out the “air dry†function. So far, I am very pleased with this multi function machine.

Has many recipes, but if I was to choose from this book and the beginners book, I would choose the beginners book.
